Supporting and confirming this is what the Lord Messiah (peace be upon us) declared in the third chapter of the Gospel of John to Nicodemus, the leader of the Jews, saying:
'Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and testify to what we have seen, and you do not accept our testimony. If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? No one has ascended into heaven except He who descended from heaven, the Son of Man who is in heaven.'
How excellent is what al-Sayyid al-Jannān al-Junbulānī (peace be upon him) established in the book Īḍāḥ al-Miṣbāḥ regarding this meaning, saying:
'We mention regarding this that the disbeliever has had his heart locked and his intellect stripped; he has been veiled from the lights so as not to kindle them, and wisdom has been removed so he does not seek it, nor can he gather experience. {So a wall will be placed between them with a gate, its interior containing mercy, but on the outside of it is punishment.} Because of their disbelief, insolence, arrogance, and cunning, Allah punished them by establishing these the outward obligations; and He manifested upon Himself incapacity and human states, so they became burdens and shackles (āsāran wa aghlālan) for those among the disbelievers who believe in them.
