If it were permissible for us to believe in the parable, it would be permissible to believe in this glass lamp, because Allah the Almighty struck the parable with it to indicate His luminous existence by His saying:
{Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The parable of His light is as if there were a niche and within it a lamp, the lamp is in a glass, the glass as if it were a brilliant star, lit from a blessed tree, an olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if at untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills. And Allah presents parables for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things.} (Al-Nur: 35)"
Know that this Niche, Lamp, Glass, and Tree—He (the Almighty) only intended by them to point to His Luminous Existences, just as He intended by the outward forms of these five acts of worship to point to the inward meanings, even if the parable indicating it is the most exalted and best of parables, according to His saying:
{And His is the most exalted example in the heavens and the earth} (Ar-Rum: 27).
And His saying:
{[And say, 'Ours is] the coloring of Allah. And who is better than Allah in coloring? And we are worshippers of Him'} (Al-Baqarah: 138).
