I emphasize this by what came concerning the Messiah in the Gospel of Luke, in chapter—the seventh, saying:
'Then the Lord said: "To what then shall I liken the men of this generation? And what are they like? They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, saying: 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we mourned to you, and you did not weep.' For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!'... etc."'
I have clarified for you the meaning of this symbolic, resembling parable mentioned above, so that you may measure against it all that the Executors (al-Awṣiyāʾ), the Prophets, and all the Worlds of Light have manifested to the People of the Outward (Ahl al-Ẓāhir) in the revealed Books and other verbal and practical images and parables—such as the manifestation of the acts of worship, which are the Five Outward Ranks (al-Ḥudūd al-Khamsa al-Ẓāhira), and other parables and images in which the People of the Outward believed while they deny the inward meanings (al-maʿānī al-bāṭina) Allah intended by them. May Allah protect us and the believers from them and from their words and deeds...
