It is a parable to indicate the 'Famous Existence' (al-Wujūd al-Mashhūr) on the side of the Mount [Sinai], demonstrating that the application of the attributes of childhood and its descriptions—which we see in His celestial and earthly manifestations (Exalted be He)—is [applied] to the Lord Christ. Just as the application of the attributes of youth and its descriptions is to our Master Muhammad, and the application of old age and its descriptions is to our Master Moses.
That representation is to indicate His existence (Exalted be He), which we cannot perceive except through those 'mist-like' (ṭashshiyya) and 'dust-like' (habqiyya) attributes, and to indicate that the locus of those celestial and earthly descriptions, attributes, and names is upon His Name and His Greatest Veil, for it is the locus of the Names and Attributes. This is an approximation for [human] understandings, and they [the attributes] apply to us and are befitting for us."
And return to us; and that the attributes applied to the Greatest Name are the attributes through which [one] can only see and describe His Meaning (Maʿnā), and they are contrary to what humans see and describe, and Allah knows best.
Indeed, some of the brothers confuse this parable; for the Primordial Meaning (al-Maʿnā al-Qadīm) transcends being the Essential Name (al-Ism al-Dhātī).
