All of that is an affirmation in appearance (al-manẓar) but a denial in reality (al-ḥaqīqa) and essence (al-jawhar); because the support (madad) for the Name comes only from the Meaning, and the support for the Gate comes only from the Name. This meaning has been explicitly declared in Kitāb al-Asūs and others, for those who understand the signal (al-ishāra).
As for the meaning of manifesting the Messiah from her through birth, it is to indicate manifesting what the Gate (al-Bāb) has derived from the knowledge of the Veil (al-Ḥijāb) to those ranks below it, each according to their capacity. Thus, Mary’s support (madad) was through the Breath (al-Nafkha), and the support for those below her was through birth (al-wilāda); and that is to indicate the superiority of the Gate's support over the support of those below it.
It was said: The manifestation of the Messiah from Mary through birth is as our Luminous Sheikh indicated in his poetry:
And a high ground of rest and flowing water
Wherein Mary gave birth to the Boy.
This is a statement indicating an obscure meaning that is not permissible to declare explicitly.
