"He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives Him who sent me. He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward, and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink only in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward."
Among what I have read in the outward books is that this House to which they perform pilgrimage is only an exemplary image (ṣūra mithāliyya) placed on earth as a likeness of the Inhabited House (al-Bayt al-Maʿmūr) which is in heaven. The circumambulation around it is in the likeness of the angels' circumambulation around the Throne (al-ʿArsh), according to the saying of the Almighty:
{And you will see the angels surrounding the Throne, glorifying the praise of their Lord.} (Al-Zumar 57)
Among these [reports] is what was narrated in the book ʿArāʾis al-Majālis (The Brides of the Sessions) in the story of Adam (peace be upon him), that Allah the Almighty sent down a ruby from the rubies of Paradise and placed it in the location of the House [a ruby] the size of the Kaaba, having two doors—an eastern door and a western door—and within it were lamps of light. Then Allah the Almighty revealed to Adam: 'I have a sanctuary directly opposite My Throne; so go to it and circumambulate it just as the Throne is circumambulated, and pray at it
