And because he—may God sanctify his spirit—due to the vastness of his knowledge, the preponderance of his intellect, the firmness of his faith, the sincerity of his certainty, the excellence of his trust in his Master and his brethren, his sublime biography, his praiseworthy traits, his righteous and pleasing deeds, his preservation of the rights of his brethren, the abundance of his giving and benevolence, his patience, his forbearance, his zeal, his contentment, his peacemaking, the soundness of his religion, and his diligence in applying what the men of pure monotheism (Tawhid) brought. Therefore, I followed his footsteps and treaded his path. And I debated in my time those whom I debated among the brethren, by rejecting the religious practice and belief in the exoteric limits (Zawahir al-Hudud) in seclusions (Khalwat), while maintaining the obligation of establishing them among the adversaries (al-Addad), due to my confidence that this is the saying of the people of truth and affirmation (Tasdiq).
