Similar to it is the saying of the Almighty in Surah al-Tawbah:
{Say, "Spend willingly or unwillingly; never will it be accepted from you. Indeed, you have been a defiantly disobedient people." And what prevents their expenditures from being accepted from them but that they disbelieved in Allah and in His Messenger and that they come not to prayer except while they are lazy and that they do not spend except while they are unwilling. So let not their wealth or their children impress you. Allah only intends to punish them through them in worldly life and that their souls should depart while they are disbelievers.} (Al-Tawbah: 53–55).
Among the contradictory statements as well is what our Master, the Commander of the Faithful (Amīr al-Muʾminīn)—peace be upon him—said by way of concealment (talbīs) upon the people of disbelief, such as his saying:
"I am the servant of Allah and the brother of the Messenger of Allah."
And his saying in the Sermon of the Regions (Khutbat al-Aqālīm):
"I am the unsheathed sword; I am the killed martyr."
And he said within it:
"I am the remover of the Gate [of Khaybar]; I am the penitent servant."
