Al-Rāḥ: This is the known outward wine, and the People of Secrets (Ahl al-Asrār) use it as a symbol for Divine Gnosis (al-Maʿrifa al-Ilāhiyya). Whether he intended the outward or the inward wine, he has forbidden the believer from partaking in it except among the knowing believers. Perhaps he indicated in these two verses that it is not permissible for us to perform the Outward rituals in the presence of those who know the ʿAyn, Mīm, Sīn, and the Orphans—let alone the advanced scholars. Allah knows best.
Among the contradictory statements as well is the saying of the Almighty:
{There is no change to the words of Allah; that is the great success.} (Yunus: 64).
And the saying of the Almighty:
{But those among them who did wrong changed a word for another than that which was said to them.} (Al-Aʿrāf: 162).
Among the contradictory statements is the saying of the Almighty:
{So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.} (Al-Zalzalah: 7–8).
And the saying of the Almighty:
{And We shall turn to whatever deeds they have done and make them as scattered dust.} (Al-Furqān: 23).
