And His saying:

{Say, "My Lord has only forbidden immoralities—what is apparent of them and what is concealed—and sin (al-ithm), and oppression without right..."} (Al-Aʿrāf: 33).

And they [the literalists] interpret "sin" as wine. And the saying of the Prophet (PBUH): "Allah has cursed wine and the one who drinks it..." etc.

What contradicts the verses regarding the prohibition of wine is the saying of the Almighty:

{There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, white and delicious to the drinkers.} (Al-Ṣāffāt: 45–46).

And His saying in Surah al-Wāqiʿah:

{There will circulate among them immortal youths with vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring.} (Al-Wāqiʿah: 17–18).

And His saying:

{...and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink.} (Al-Insān: 21).
