like them is also capable of showing them that they are mortals (bashar) possessing lineages and human states; and that is by the Divine Power which is capable of turning hearts and eyes.
Similar to it is what was reported in the Gospel in the First Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians, in the fifteenth chapter, which is his saying: "The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second man is the Lord from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have worn the image of the man of dust, we shall also wear the image of the heavenly man. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does corruption inherit incorruption."
Meaning: corruption, which is the perishable body, does not inherit alongside incorruption, which is eternal permanence. The intent behind this is their transcendence (tanzih) from the bodily concealment (talbis), which is the image of those made of dust.
It was reported in the sixteenth chapter of the Gospel of Matthew regarding Lord Christ that he said:
"Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" They said: "Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
He said to them: "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter answered and said: "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
