We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed [Our message], so ask the People of Remembrance (Ahl al-Dhikr) if you do not know. And We did not make them as bodies that did not eat food, nor were they immortal} (Al-Anbiya: 7-8). And His saying to His Prophet (PBUH): {And We did not grant to any mortal (bashar) before you immortality; so if you should die—are they then to be immortal?} (Al-Anbiya: 34).
And His saying: {And if We had made him an angel, We would have made him [appear as] a man, and We would have covered them with that in which they cover themselves} (Al-An'am: 9). Meaning: If We had made the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) manifest with the attribute of the Luminous Angel, We would have represented him with the attribute of a mortal, just as Gabriel—peace be upon him—represented himself in the form of Dihya; because mortals are unable to see the Luminous Angel in his [true] form.
And His saying in Surah al-A'raf: {And if you invite them to guidance, they do not hear; and you see them looking at you while they do not perceive} (Al-A'raf: 198).
