The Almighty pointed toward this meaning in Surah Al-Imran, saying:
{Indeed, the likeness of Jesus near Allah is as the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then He said to him, "Be," and he was.} (Al-Imran: 59).
In summary, I say: if all followers of the Outward religious laws believe that the Prophets and Successors are capable of manifesting miracles and divine power—to say nothing of the People of Tawhid—how then could they not be capable of manifesting themselves to mankind with human attributes for the sake of familiarity (mu'anasa)?
How excellent is our Master Abu Sa'id—may Allah sanctify him—who explained this example for us in the eighth chapter of the book Al-Hawi fi Jam' al-Fatawi, saying:
"Lineages only fall upon the Outward Names. Do you truly think the Meaning (Al-Ma'na) possesses a father, a mother, a brother, or a child? Exalted is Allah far above what the oppressors say! Rather, these [ancestries] are those persons manifested by birth [are] like the appearance of fire from a flint—though there is no fire within the flint—and it is upon them that lineages fall. It is not as the commoners (al-'amma) believe.
