Contradictory sayings that he is a human and that he is not a human..

But as for he who believes in the Inward (Batin), he has validated both statements. This is because the verses indicating that Allah is not seen—their Inward meaning is that He is not seen in the perfection of His Essence (Kamal Dhatih) as He [truly] is. Whereas the verses indicating that He—the Exalted—is seen, their Inward meaning is that He is seen according to the degree of merit (istihaqaq) and capacity (istita‘a); otherwise, one of the two [contradictory] statements must be belied.

Likewise, the statements concerning the rejection of the Outward acts of worship and the statements concerning the obligation of their establishment proceed in the same manner as these contradictory statements regarding His Inwardness and His Manifestation, as previously explained.

Among the contradictory statements is also the saying of the Almighty—Exalted is He—as a concealment (talbis) upon the stubborn deniers: {Say: I am only a man like you, to whom it is revealed...} (Al-Kahf: 110), and the saying of the Almighty: {Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die} (Al-Zumar: 30). This statement indicates, according to the view of the People of the Outward (Ahl al-Zahir), that he [the Prophet] is a mortal human like them and that he also died as they die.
