Among the firm sayings regarding the obligation of establishing the Outward is what The Sage Muhammad bin Sinan—peace be from him—narrated in the Book of Lights and Veils (Kitab al-Anwar wa al-Hujub), saying:

"I heard The Scholar [Imam al-Sadiq]—peace be from him—say: 'My servant shall not attain what is with Me of goodness, bliss, generosity, and excellence except through piety (wara’), striving (ijtihad), asceticism (zuhd), prayer, and worship in both the Outward and Inward of the matter. Whoever abandons the Outward after knowing the Inward, both the Outward and the Inward shall be stripped from him.'"

The Sage Muhammad bin Sinan said: "I heard The Scholar say: 'It is forbidden for anyone to drop any part of the Outward from himself after knowing the Inward. I have sworn to Myself that I shall punish whoever does that with a painful punishment.'"

Meaning, it is not permissible for one who knows the Inward to drop the establishment of the Outward among the Opposites (Al-Addad). The proof for this is what our Sheikh established in the Book of Contracts (Kitab al-Uqud), saying:

"When the Gnostic knows the Persons (Ashkhas) of these obligations Inwardly, the [necessity of] their Outward obligation is dropped from him [as a matter of personal belief]."
