one poor person. If the wealthy were to bring forth the Zakat of their wealth, that poor person would be joined with them [in sufficiency] and he became as one of them [the wealthy]; and there is no [Zakat] due on anything less than two hundred [dirhams]. Whoever brings forth the Khums (One-Fifth) of his wealth has rendered the entirety of it lawful, and no Zakat is required from him on that for which he has paid the Khums for the remainder of his life.

Both praise and blame, as well as an Inward and an Outward aspect, have been reported concerning Wealth (Al-Mal). Among this is the saying of the Commander of the Faithful [Ali]—peace be from him: "I am the wealth of the believers, and they have no Zakat other than me."

And his saying: "I am the Ya'sub (Sovereign/King Bee) of the believers." Thus, [true] wealth is the Ya'sub. As for the disbelievers, they have no Ya'sub except for wealth consisting of gold and silver.

It has also been reported that a man is questioned about his prestige (jah) just as he is questioned about his wealth. Its Zakat lies in fulfilling the needs of his brothers, and his [true] wealth is his inclination toward his Master (Mawla).

And His saying: {And whatever you have of favor—it is from Allah}. Therefore, do not grow weary of favors, lest vengeances descend upon you.
