This continued until the Flood of Noah, peace be upon him; nothing remained upon the face of the earth higher than the remains of the Ark.

When Noah returned to the cultivation of the earth after descending from the Ark, he settled its people and was commanded to raise the House. So it was raised, and its foundations were set from five mountains—and it is said from seven—among them Mount Sinai and Mount Qaf. Its foundations were not yet elevated, but they were circumambulated and pilgrimage was made to them until the time of Abraham, peace be upon him, [when he had been] ten years in the vicinity of the House. Then occurred what occurred of the emergence of Zamzam, and Ishmael, peace be upon him, reached twenty years of age. Then Allah the Almighty commanded Abraham to raise the foundations of the House, so he raised them to the height of a standing stature. When Abraham reached the site of the Pilgrimage, Gabriel—prayers of Allah be upon him—summoned from Paradise a stone from of white pearl, and it was placed in its location. It is reported that this Stone is the Angel (Al-Malak) to whom the Covenants of Creation (Mawathiq al-Khalq) were entrusted in the Primordial Beginning (Al-Dharw), and thereafter in all the early assemblies and times.
