Then we say to him: If it were permissible to believe in everything he established and commanded, it would then be permissible for us to believe in the attribution of eating and drinking to him, because he (PBUH) manifested that he ate and drank and commanded us to eat and drink. It would also be permissible for us to believe that he married and had children, and it would be permissible for us to believe that he died, because he manifested death upon himself, and the Almighty informed us that he dies just as every human dies, by His saying: {Indeed, you are [to be] dead, and indeed, they are [to be] dead} (Az-Zumar: 30). He manifested many things upon himself and commanded people to do them; yet, if it were permissible to believe in everything he commanded and manifested upon himself, the entirety of the Inward Religion would be nullified.
This conforms neither to reason (Al-Ma'qul) nor to tradition (Al-Manqul); for everything the Prophets and Successors manifested upon themselves of human states is entirely a simulation (Tashbih) and a disguise (Talbees), and it has no [essential] reality (Haqiqa), according to the saying of the Almighty: {And We turn away their hearts and their eyes} (Al-An'am: 110).
And His saying: {And We would have obscured for them that which they are obscuring} (Al-An'am: 9).
