[They are forbidden] from performing those outward deeds symbolized by the "forbidden things," and from revealing their adornment (Zina)—symbolized by the Inward Gnosis—to the Opposites (Al-Addad), except for that which is apparent of it. This includes the outward Testimony (Al-Shahada), the blessing upon the Messengers, their exaltation and outward veneration, and similar statements that correspond in both outward and inward forms—such as the exaltation of Christ above the crucifixion and the like.
It also includes the wearing of the headcovers (Al-Khumur)—symbolized by the establishment of the outward sciences among the Opposites to hide behind them. The People of Monotheism (Ahl al-Tawhid) have likened the establishment of the Outward to the clothing for the body, because it is absolutely impermissible to reveal the Inward by abandoning the Outward, just as it is impermissible to reveal what is hidden by discarding clothes. Just as harm occurs to the body by leaving clothing due to the cold, harm will likewise befall the believers from the Opposites by abandoning the Outward.
Allah the Almighty has commanded the "believing women" to clothe the body and wear the headcovers—symbolized by the establishment of the Outward—to veil the heads, necks, chests, and all physical limbs.
