This means that He—the Almighty—has established the structure of these outward forms to serve as a sign for us to remember and a garment to hide behind, according to His saying: {That is from the signs of Allah}, meaning from His signs that indicate His existences (wujudatihi). Out of His grace toward us, He manifested Taqiya over them to teach us how to practice it and to adopt His etiquette. He—Glory be to Him—forbade us from the temptation of Satan by His saying: {O children of Adam, let not Satan tempt you} (Al-A’raf: 27), to alert us that those who incline toward the Opposite and his knowledge will inevitably face the "Descent" (Al-Hubut)—which is the exit from the Paradise of Gnosis (Jannat al-Ma’rifa) to the Earth of Veiling (Ardh al-Hujba), just as those before us were descended from the Paradise of Purity and Gnosis to the Earth of Human "Shirts" (Ardh al-Qumsan al-Bashariyya) and Veiling.

The Almighty reminded us of the stripping of the garment of the two parents—which symbolizes the disclosure of secrets to Satan and his party—and the manifestation of their "private parts" (saw’atuhuma)—which symbolizes the harm they suffered due to revealing their secrets—and their removal from Paradise, which symbolizes Purity (Al-Safa) and Gnosis (Al-Ma’rifa). All of this is so that we may beware of having happen to us what happened to them: from eating of the Tree, disobedience, confusion, dispute, the Descent (Al-Hubut), and the Veiling (Al-Hujba) in times past; and Allah knows best.
