Among the decisive sayings regarding the rejection of the outward creeds (Al-'Aqa'id al-Zahira), their censure, and the prohibition of inclining toward them or adopting them as a matter of faith and belief, is the saying of the Almighty in Surah Al-Dukhan: {Indeed, the tree of Zaqqum is the food of the sinful. Like molten metal, it boils in the bellies, like the boiling of scalding water} (Al-Dukhan: 43-46).
Similarly, His saying—the Almighty—in Surah Al-Saffat: {Is that better as a lodging or the tree of Zaqqum? Indeed, We have made it a trial for the wrongdoers. Indeed, it is a tree that comes out from the root of Hellfire (Al-Jahim). Its fruit is like the heads of devils. And indeed, they will eat from it and fill [their] bellies with it. Then indeed, for them after it is a mixture of scalding water. Then indeed, their return is to the Hellfire. Indeed, they found their fathers misguided; so they, in their footsteps, were hastened} (Al-Saffat: 62-70).
And similarly, His—the Almighty's—saying: {Then indeed, you, O those led astray and deniers, will surely eat from trees of Zaqqum and fill your bellies with it, and drink over it from scalding water, drinking like the drinking of thirsty camels (Al-Him)} (Al-Waqi'ah: 51-55).
Likewise, His—the Almighty's—saying in Surah Al-Isra: {And [remember] when We told you, "Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people."
