obligatory for the believer to take from their [the public's] sciences that which he may adorn himself with among them as a matter of dissimulation (Taqiya). and to shield his religion, so that his outward appearance is better than theirs. {And you extract from it ornaments which you wear}; meaning, through the Outward, you deduce the Inward knowledge and use it as a covering (talabbus) among the People of the Outward. This is according to the saying of Allah: {And you extract from it ornaments which you wear} (An-Nahl: 14), and His saying: {And if We had made him an angel, We would have made him [appear as] a man, and We would have covered them with that in which they cover themselves} (Al-An'am: 9).
This represents the Messenger's "covering" (Talbis) over the people of the outward religious laws; he showed them his [human] form while disguising himself from them, speaking to them according to what their intellects could accept. This is because they are the leaders of obstinate rejection (A'immat al-Juhud) since the Day of the Atom (Dharw) and the Shadows (Azilla). May Allah deliver us from the evil of their misguidance, denial, and disbelief.
