that just as he denied, rejected, and disbelieved in the First Peak (Al-Dharw al-Awwal) and did not respond to His call—Exalted be He—God did not grant him light. For he to whom God did not grant light beforehand shall have no light thereafter, due to his failure to respond previously.

Among the sayings indicating that the Prophet (PBUH) says to the people of disbelief a word other than the firm, decisive word (Al-Qawl al-Muhkam) that he says to the believers—and [how God] abrogates it with that which opposes it of the decisive sayings—is what He—the Almighty—informed of in Surah Al-Hajj, saying: {And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet except that when he desired (tamanna), Satan threw [something] into his desire. But Allah abrogates that which Satan throws; then Allah establishes His verses [as decisive]. And Allah is Knowing and Wise. That He may make what Satan throws a trial for those within whose hearts is disease and those whose hearts are hardened. And indeed, the wrongdoers are in extreme dissension. And so those who were given knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord and [therefore] believe in it, and their hearts may be humbled to Him. And indeed, Allah is the Guide of those who have believed to a straight path.

And those who disbelieve will not cease to be in doubt of it until the Hour comes upon them unexpectedly or there comes to them the punishment of a barren day.} (Al-Hajj: 52 - 55).
