Their building which they built will not cease to be a [cause of] doubt in their hearts until their hearts are cut [apart]. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.} (At-Tawbah: 107-110).

I say: He—the Almighty—has named both the Outward (Al-Zahir) and the Inward (Al-Batin) by the name "Mosque," then He forbade standing [to pray] in the Mosque of the Outward. Subsequently, He clarified to us that standing in the Inward Mosque—which was founded on righteousness from the first day—is more worthy for you to stand in. The meaning of "day" is the "Manifestation" (Al-Zuhur); meaning, this Inward religion—symbolized by the Mosque that was founded from the first manifestation revealed by God Almighty, and the first creation He brought into being—is more worthy than these various, newly-invented, and corrupt religions. This is because a newly-invented religion cannot be anything but corrupt. As for the religion that is older than every [other] religion, it is the religion of Truth and Sincerity that neither shifts nor ceases; it is the Inward religion of God, which is referred to in the Gospel, in the second chapter of the first epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians, by his saying: "But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory."

Then He proved that also by His saying—Glory be to Him: {Within it are men who love to purify themselves} (At-Tawbah: 108).
