Among what proves and confirms the validity of the Unitarians’ (Al-Muwahhidun) interpretation regarding the month of Ramadan is what has been mentioned in linguistic books, lexicons, and others: that the "month" (Al-Shahr) is the crescent, and the "month" is also the moon, or it is when it appears and approaches completion; and the "month" is also is one part of the twelve parts of the year. It is called Shahr (month) because it is made manifest (yush-har) by the moon. The Sacred Month is Muharram, the Silent Month of God is Rajab, the Honored Month of God is Sha’ban, and the Blessed Month of God is Ramadan.
The Master Ja’far al-Sadiq—mercy be from him—reported in the book Al-Sirat (The Path) from the Master Messenger (PBUH) that which confirms this, by his saying: The Greatest Master Muhammad—peace be from him—said: "Verily, God created a creation and made them keys to good and locks for evil; Good is the Inward (Al-Batin) and Evil is the Outward (Al-Zahir)."
