Among what indicates the necessity of obligating the disbelievers with the burdens and shackles (al-āṣār wa al-aghlāl)—which are the exoteric limits (al-ḥudūd) and others—due to their disbelief and persistence, while lifting them from the believers who affirm [the Truth] due to their response and faith, is the word of the Almighty in this regard:

{Muhammad is the Messenger of God; and those with him are harsh against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves.} (Al-Fatḥ: 29).

And the word of the Almighty in Surat Āli ‘Imrān: {And confirming what was before me of the Torah and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you.} (Āli ‘Imrān: 50).

And the word of the Almighty: {And He is ever Merciful to the believers.} (Al-Aḥzāb: 43).

And the word of the Almighty in Surat al-A‘rāf: {Those who follow the Messenger, the Unlettered Prophet, whom they find written in what they have of the Torah and the Gospel, who enjoins upon them what is right and forbids them what is wrong and makes lawful for them the good things and prohibits for them the evil things and relieves them of their burden and the shackles which were upon them. So they who have believed in him, honored him, supported him and followed the light which was sent down with him—it is those who will be the successful.} (Al-A‘rāf: 157).
