As for the one who reaches and knows these degrees which I have explained to you, he has been liberated from the bondage of slavery; the shackles, burdens, and the performance of the exoteric (al-ẓāhir) have been dropped from him."
Then he recited: {There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they have consumed [in the past] if they [now] fear God and believe and do righteous deeds...} (Al-Mā’idah: 93).
And he read: {There is no blame upon you for entering houses not inhabited in which there is convenience (matā‘) for you} (An-Nūr: 29). He said, "Do you know what is meant by {convenience for you}?" I said, "No." He said, "It means an elevation in gnosis and the rising of degrees."
I say: By this noble verse in Surat al-Mā’idah, the Master al-Sadiq pointed to the lifting of exoteric obligation from the knowing, practicing believers in their seclusions (al-khalawāt). For what is intended by His saying: {There is no blame upon those who believe} is by his manifestations (Almighty), the manifestations of the Messengers, and the Worlds of Holiness.
{And did righteous deeds} Meaning: By teaching these deeds to the believers who seek their inner gnosis.
