Is everything that the Exalted has informed us of, and that the Prophets have manifested, obligatory upon us to affirm?
And if someone says: "Is everything that He Almighty has informed us of and that the Prophets have manifested obligatory upon us to affirm and believe in?"
We say to him: God Almighty has informed us that Muhammad will die by His saying: {Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die} (Al-Zumar: 30). And He informed us that he is a human by His Glory’s saying: {Say, 'I am only a man like you, to whom has been revealed...'} (Al-Kahf: 110). He manifested upon himself humanity, death, marriage, eating, drinking, and so forth; yet it is not permissible for us to believe that such [attributes] are fixed intrinsic realities for him or for any other Prophets and Legatees (Awṣiyā’).
Therefore, he who seeks the truth must believe in what the Prophets, Messengers, Infallibles, and the gnostic believers who affirm by their affirmation believe; for they are more knowledgeable of the Interpretation (Ta’wil) and other matters than anyone else. They are the Truthful Ones whom God Almighty commanded us to follow in Surat al-Tawbah by His saying: {O you who have believed, fear God and be with the Truthful Ones} (Al-Tawbah: 119).
