The Month is only attributed to it [Ramadan] out of reverence, exaltation, and honor for Ramadan. This indicates that the "Ramadan" referred to by Him Almighty in His Mighty Book is not the month they claim, based on the evidence of the Prophet’s (PBUH) oath: "Indeed, they do not know what Ramadan is." Furthermore, he pointed to it as explained in Majmū‘ al-A‘yād (The Collection of Festivals).

Know that their belief in the month and the application of the name Ramadan to it is like the one who believes in the sanctity of a literal bull because the name "Taurus" is applied to it [as a zodiac sign], or like one who grants the quality of sanctity to a lamb or a sheep because the name "Aries" is applied to it in the heavens; and so it is with the rest of the Zodiac signs and the rest of the limits (al-hudūd) and exoteric names.

How is it permissible for us to believe in and profess religion through fasting from physical food and drink without finding a firm witness (shāhid muḥkam) for that from the Infallibles or in the revealed Books? If it were permissible to hold onto the fasting believed in by the Nawāṣib and the belief in the month they believe in—simply because the names "month" and "fasting" are used in linguistic books—then it would be permissible to believe in their object of worship because the Majestic Name [Allah] is applied to it, just as the names "month," "fasting," and all the names of worship are applied to what they interpret it as; and every creed or people names its deity with the Majestic Name (Allah). As our Infallible Sheikh said in his poetry:
