And the people of the exoteric also believe that the name of fasting may be applied to leaving the eating of meats and milks and every possessor of a soul and what comes out of a soul. And it is, according to their opinion, leaving the eating of all the meats of the lawful and prohibited animals and what comes out of those animals.

As for the opinion of the people of monotheism, indeed the fasting from eating meat, milk, and every possessor of a soul and what comes out of a soul, which God coupled with blame, is abstaining from eating what God forbade of animals and what comes out of them of prohibitions constantly, except for one who is forced, neither desiring nor transgressing. And abstaining also from believing in the exemplified by them of the people of disbelief and misguidance and what comes out of them of corrupt sciences. And indeed that is of the prohibitions exoterically and esoterically, meaning the example and the exemplified together.

And that is because He Almighty struck examples with the praised, the blamed, the prohibited, and the lawful. So among them is what is with praise exoterically and esoterically, and among them is what is with blame exoterically and esoterically, and among them is what is with praise esoterically not exoterically, and vice versa, and among them is what is with blame esoterically not exoterically, and vice versa. Meaning among them are praised examples and the intended meaning by them is blamed, and among them are blamed examples and the intended meaning by them
