As for the blameworthy journeying, meaning the one coupled in His Almighty's address with blame, it is the seeking of exoteric sciences and corrupt beliefs to profess religion by them. As for refraining and abstaining from them, it is the lack of inclination towards them and believing in them.

And according to the people of the exoteric, the name of fasting may be applied to refraining and resting from action, which is, according to their opinion, leaving the exoteric actions.

As for the opinion of the monotheists, it is abstaining from presenting every act of the acts of goodness to the people of disbelief and misguidance as a means of drawing near and trusting in them, if the companion of the address is with praise. As for if its companion is with blame, then it is abstaining from doing all the exoteric and esoteric prohibitions, due to His Almighty's saying:

{Say, "My Lord has only forbidden immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed - and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with God that for which He has not sent down authority, and that you say about God that which you do not know."} (Al-A'raf: 33) And that is because He Almighty does not intend by His address in the revealed books with the name coupled with praise except the praised thing, and He does not intend the name coupled with blame except the blameworthy thing.
