Chapter Eight: Concerning the Knowledge of the Destiny of the Believer’s Soul and the Disbeliever’s Soul upon their Transition from the Body.
[55] From Al-Mufaddal ibn Umar, peace be upon him, who said: I asked my Master Abu Abd Allah, may His might be glorified, about the spirit of the believer and the spirit of the disbeliever, what becomes of them upon death?
He said: "Indeed, God has created for the believers in every heaven a garden and a spring. Then they were brought forth through births. The believer's birth is according to his measure, and when he dies according to the measure of his faith, the angels come to him and carry his spirit until they ascend with it to the heaven, according to the measure of his faith.
And if the believer was in a state of trial, the angels ascend with him to the lowest heaven and immerse him in the spring that is at the gate of Paradise, which is called the 'spring of life.'
