I said: "What is the meaning of the Sacred Precinct of God (haram Allāh)?" He said: "The covenant and pact of God."

I said: "So tell me about the gazelles?" He said: "The entrusted ones in the Sacred Precinct."

I said: "So what about the smell of their droppings?" He said: "They acknowledged Oneness then they rejected it, and that is why the smell of the acknowledgement is from them and in their bellies."

I said: "So what is the meaning of the two markers (al-alamayn)?" He said: "They are the doors."

I said: "So what about the postal stations (al-barīd)?" He said: "The orphans."

I said: "The east?" He said: "The leaders (nuqabā’)."

I said: "The milestones (al-amyāl)?" He said: "The believers who reach the Safa from one to another until he catches up with the Safa."
