I said: So His saying, blessed and exalted:

"Indeed, as-Safa and al-Marwah are among the rituals of God." (Quran, Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 158)

He said: "The sha'a'ir (rituals) are Salsal, and 'Allah' is the Name, the Mim."

Regarding "whoever performs Hajj to the House": "It means whoever knows the original meaning."

Regarding "or performs Umrah": "He knows the knowledge of Oneness."

Regarding "there is no blame upon him for circling them": He said: "Yes, he circles the two orphans."

I said: "My Master, tell me about the rites (manasik)?"

He said: "They are the branches of Hajj. So whoever performs Hajj and does not know the rites, it is obligatory for him to know the rites, for they are also from the command of God.
