The Believer is a 'Nubian' (Nubi), because he turned in repentance (Anaba) unto Allah and was saved from the punishment of Allah. The Believer is a 'Non-Arab' (A'jami), because he was silent (A'jama) toward falsehood and became obscure (Ista'jama) to the world through his Gnosis. The Believer is a 'Kurd' (Kurdi), because he recurred (Karra) in the Cycles (al-Akwar) and rotated in the Eras (al-Adwar). The Believer is a 'Roman' (Rumi), because he aspired (Rama) to the Reality and gazed intently toward it."
[201] From al-Mufaddal (peace be upon him), who said: I heard al-Sadiq—may His Might be exalted—saying:
"Adorn yourselves with necklaces of pearls." I said: "My Master, what are the necklaces of pearls?"
He said: "It is the abundance of our narrations and reports. Whoever possesses an abundance of our narrations and reports, his station becomes great in the eyes of his Creator."
