O Abu Hanifa, do you not know that 'completion' is reaching the limit beyond which is excess and below which is deficiency? The Throne of Allah is not subject to change (Mustahil), nor does it have a peer in what it is or what it consists of. How could it change, when changeability is the corruption of a thing and its transformation from one 'being' to another?"
Humran said: I saw Abu Hanifa, and his face turned blue, and the hair on his head turned gray in that very hour. He stood up [to leave], so I said to our Master—may His Might be exalted: "Is all of this the description of the Throne?"
He replied: {"And they have not appraised Allah with His true appraisal."} 1 Thus, I knew that in the esoteric (Batin) of the Throne, it is the description of Allah and the Station of our Master Muhammad—may His Might be exalted.
