A man from the Shi'a of 'Ali should dwell in a neighborhood and be the custodian of their trusts (wada'i'), the settler of their affairs, the washer of their dead, and the establisher of their prayer-place. So, be an adornment (zayn) for us, and do not be a disgrace ('ar) upon us."

[178] And by his chain of transmission, from the Al-Alim [The Sage] (Mighty is His Might), who said:

"None have broken my back except for two men: a dissolute believer (mu’min mutahattik) and a devout disbeliever (kafir mutanassik). This [disbeliever] calls the people to his falsehood through his [outward] devotion, while that [believer] repels the people from his Truth through his dissolution."

[179] And from him, by the chain of transmission, from Al-Sadiq (Mighty is His Might), who said:

"Whoever unties a knot before its tier [The Maker] has untied it, the predatory beasts shall devour him, the wolves shall maul him, the vermin of the earth shall tear him apart, and Allah shall return him to being a coarse Bedouin (a'rabiyyan jilfan)."
