And the 'Ayn [Ali] (Mighty is His Might) said to Salsal [Salman]:
"O Abu 'Abdullah!" He replied: "At your service, O my Master and Lord." He said: "No believer has ever withheld from one of his brethren any of the vanities of this world, except that Allah afflicted him in his own self and wealth until He compels (yuhwij) 1 him to spend it on a non-believer against his will, and then he receives no reward for it.
{So whoever wills, let him believe; and whoever wills, let him disbelieve}. Meaning: whoever wills, let him accept the inner reality (batin) of the 'difficult and made difficult' within himself and toward his brethren; and whoever wills, let him reject it.
{Indeed, We have prepared} for those who reject this, a Fire. This, by Allah, is the Truth and Verity from your Lord, as I say; {so do not be among the doubters}."
