report of the Bowl (al-qihf) 1 which Al-Mutawakkil gifted to Salih, the master of the Musalla.
He said: Salih invited the officials of the state and invited Abu Shu’ayb Muhammad ibn Nusayr (peace be upon him). Salih ordered the bowl to be brought out, and the maid took it from its case to wipe it fell from her hand and shattered. She fled, as did the servant who went looking for her. Salih's demand for the bowl (al-qihf) intensified until he swore he would surely kill the maid, and his life became distressed because of it.
Abu Shu’ayb (peace be upon him) said to another servant who was passing by: 'Bring me the bowl, for it fell from the maid's hand and she has disappeared.' The servant went and brought it to him. Abu Shu’ayb took it and wrapped it with his hand while the assembly was crowded with state officials; and behold! It was without a crack or break, except for a small splinter at the top of the bowl that was missing.
He passed his hand over it and recited some supplications, and it became whole.
