from Harun ibn Muhammad ibn Bishr, from Fatima bint Ibrahim ibn al-Khasib:
"Abu al-Layth said: 'I met Fatima when she was an old woman, still enjoying the use of one of her eyes.' She said: 'Abu Ja’far Muhammad ibn Nusayr al-Numayri (peace be upon him) used to visit my brother, Abu al-‘Abbas al-Khasibi. My brother would often host him, and he held him in such high esteem that he would stand up out of veneration for him. I thought this was due to some government business.
My brother had a crystal goblet (qadah billawr) of such beauty that no one who visited him was allowed to drink from it except Abu Ja’far al-Numayri. It was engraved crystal worth a hundred dinars. One day, Abu Ja’far came and my brother hosted him. Abu Ja’far asked for a drink (faqa’) 1 , so I hurried to take the goblet from its case to wipe it. It slipped from my hand and shattered.
