[159] And from Ibrahim al-Sabbagh, who said: "I had entrusted a sum of money to Abu al-Khattab, for the people of Kufa used to trust him with their wealth. When the ordeal (Mihna) and the execution befell him, I said to myself: 'By Allah, if I go to his house, will I find his family in mourning?' My son said: 'Do not do that, just seek your money.'

I went to the house of Abu al-Khattab and knocked on the door. A maid came out and asked: 'Who is at the door?' I said: 'Ibn al-Sabbagh.' She said: 'Enter.'

I entered, and behold! Abu al-Khattab was sitting in the seat of honor in the assembly. He said: 'O Ibrahim, the entire matter is contrary to what you saw [the execution]. Your money is in such-and-such place.' I said: 'I have believed and you have spoken the truth.'"
