The Chapter of the Miracle of the Master Abu al-Khattab Muhammad ibn Abi Zaynab al-Kahili (Peace be upon him)
[157] From ‘Abdullah ibn al-‘Ala’, from Idris, from Zayd ibn Talhah, from Yunus, from Al-Mufaddal (peace be upon him), who said:
"Abu al-Khattab (peace be upon him) said to me: 'Buy us a sheep so we may slaughter it for our companions.' I searched the market but found nothing but a he-goat (Tays), so I bought it for four dirhams and brought it to him.
He said: 'Slaughter it.' Thereupon, the goat spoke in Nabataean and said: 'What will you do with my meat? I am lean and scrawny (Ghath) 2 ; nothing of me can be eaten. However, at the base of such-and-such tree, I have four hundred dirhams; take them and let me go.'
