Jabir stepped forward toward the deceased and said: 'Rise! For you have no shroud.'
The dead man leaped up, saying: 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah—the God of Jabir and my God—and He is sufficient for me, and the best Disposer of affairs.'
People searched for Jabir, but he could not be found. They asked the [revived] man: 'What did you see?'
He replied: 'I saw a man saying: "Sufficient for us is our Lord who opened Basra yesterday..."'—and the report is lengthy.
The news reached Abu Ja’far [Al-Baqir], Mighty is His Might, who said to Jabir: 'Go and ask the people about "Jabir," for they do not recognize you.' Jabir went and asked them, and they said: 'A Bedouin man claimed to be Jabir; a sorcerer who revived a dead man!'
Jabir asked: 'And what did he do?' They said: 'He fled.' He asked: 'Why did you not seize him and bring him to my Master?' They replied: 'We intended to do so, but we could not catch him.'"
