Noble Book: «Allah is the Ally (wali) of those who believe. He brings them out from darknesses into the light. And those who disbelieve - their allies are Taghut; they take them out of the light into darknesses»1. 'Ali is the Master of the believers; his command is beyond reach. It is indeed called out in the Adhan: 'I bear witness that 'Ali is the Master (wali) of the believers.'2 And His saying in the Book: «And if they turn away - then know that Allah is your protector. Excellent is the protector, and Excellent is the helper»3.
Along with the saying of the Messenger of Allah — Exalted Glory —: ''Ali is the protector (mawlā) of every believer and his master (wali).' And His saying in the Noble Book: «Or have they taken protectors besides Him? But Allah - He is the Protector, and He gives life to the dead, and He is over all things competent»4.
It is related that three [men] came to the Messenger of Allah — Exalted Glory — and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, Allah took Abraham as a friend (khalīl), spoke to Moses directly, and Jesus was permitted to revive the dead by Allah's leave and heal the blind and leper by the leave of Allah — Exalted Glory —; so what did He give to you?' He — Exalted Glory — said to them: 'If Allah — Exalted Glory — took Abraham as a friend (khalīl), He took me as a beloved (ḥabīb), and the beloved is closer than the friend. And if Jesus revived the dead by Allah's leave, then rise, O 'Ali, and revive a dead person for them.' And His saying, Exalted Glory: «That is because Allah is the Truth (al-Ḥaqq), and that what they call upon besides Him is falsehood, and that Allah is the High, the Great»5.
Along with his — Exalted Glory — saying: ''Ali is the Truth; wherever he is, there is the Truth.' And His saying in the Book: «He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him,
