We bid him farewell while he was laughing at us, wondering at our act. He stood regretting our parting, grieving for us, thinking that the earth would swallow us; he had despaired of us and did not doubt we would perish. He stopped looking at us.

We walked until we entered that land and reached the path. At that point, our affair became difficult for the King; he cried out to us, calling and bidding farewell. We walked but a little until we turned back to him to make known that we found a path to tread. We did not see him. We rose above the tents and saw them only like stars. When we saw that, we rejoiced and prostrated in thanks to Allah for it. We verified that we had been accepted. The journey became easy for us, to the point that we felt no pain in walking until most of the day had passed.

We were walking, talking, rejoicing, and happy, when a lush green meadow dawned upon us. In it was running water and trees with hanging fruits. We reached it and saw horses grazing in the meadow and a man leaning his back against a tree, seeking shade. When he saw us, he rose toward us, meeting us and greeting us.

We reflected upon him, and it was the Chinese Astrologer who—as my Master mentioned—was the one who narrated the account of the People and was the reason for our setting out. When we recognized him, we intended to prostrate to him. When he saw that, he prevented us and said: "Do not do so, for I am a brother to you among your brothers, certain of your faith, and I supplicate much for you."

Then he embraced each of us and held us to his chest, saying: "Do you both know how much of the lands you have crossed this day?" We said: "We have no knowledge of that." He said: "Sit." We sat. He extended his hand to a fruit and plucked it—it was a pomegranate tree—and gave each of us a pomegranate. We ate, went to the spring, drank, and prepared for prayer. The man stepped forward and led us in the Noon and Afternoon prayers.
