you saw and looked at what you witnessed. Whoever has an opinion in which there is rectification and sovereignty for us, let him mention it."
A man among the sages said to him: "O King, a power has been made clear to us from this man that no human is capable of. If the King chooses that I explain what was made clear from him, I shall do so."
The King said: "Mention what you have regarding that."
The sage said: "O King, when I saw the fire smelt the iron, copper, and lead, liquefying it until it was transformed and became fashioned gold—and that the wood from which the molds were made did not burn, and the fire showed no power or authority over it—I knew that the power belongs to the Powerful One, not to the fire. Likewise, food does not satiate, drink does not quench, the sword does not cut, poison does not kill, and fire does not burn except by His command. These acts belong to the Powerful One.
What we saw of the return of the sun after it had set has guided us; we saw it and verified it as it ascended from its setting place and did not settle until it reached the dome of the firmament and spoke words we heard and understood. If what we saw was impossible and not feasible, it cannot be outside of three categories: Either the Ancient Powerful One returned the sun from its setting place while the world remained upright—and this is the power of the Wise One; or He created for us a sun and rose it upon us from the West—and this is a great power and a major sign; or He turned our sights and gazes and established in our intellects that He rose for us a sun from its setting place and we saw it—and this is among the greatest signs and clearest proofs, for none can turn the hearts, sights, and gazes except the Ancient of Time (Qadīm al-Zamān), the One Powerful over every state, He Whom no affair busies from another.
From whatever aspect we contemplate what we saw and witnessed, we find it a power that none is capable of except the Most High, the Wise, the Ancient Eternal. Furthermore, we have made a covenant with him
