and who is he? Mention his report to us.' The Sheikh said to me: 'This is Muhammad b. al-Hasan the Awaited, Exalted Glory, who shall rule the kings, whom the worlds shall answer, who shall kill the Pharaohs, humble the tyrants, and crush the earth and those upon it until none remain but the Chosen Elite (al-ṣafwah al-mukhtārūn). He shall fill the earth with justice and equity as it was filled with oppression and injustice.'

I said to him: 'Do you know anything of his talk and what he said—that he is the Lord of the House, that he is the one who established, initiated, and manifested it? And who was it that people worshiped in these lands before the Lord of the House appeared?' The Sheikh said to him: 'I have the knowledge of that, and I shall mention to you what you asked me in an assembly other than this, if Allah the Exalted wills.'

My Master said: 'O King, you people of India, despite your virtue, knowledge, and understanding, worship this House, even though these signs, miracles, and great matters appeared from the Lord of this House.' The King said: 'I seek refuge with Allah from that!' My Master said: 'Will the King—may Allah prolong his life—make known to us the reason for establishing the House? And are people united upon its worship or divided?'

The King said: 'From my talk is that which you must understand, so that you have knowledge of what you saw from me, and that my excuse may be laid out for you and my secret revealed. Know—may Allah support you—that the Lord of this House, whose talk you heard from me, appears once every thousand years. He does exactly what I mentioned to you, and people gather to him, group after group, entering to him, circumambulating around him, and witnessing from him what I have made known to you. He identifies them and teaches them what was since a thousand years ago and what shall be after a thousand years. They verify what he says and what he mentions to them, and the matter is as he says.
