And the Messenger of Allah said: "May my father be a ransom for the poor; I ransom poverty; may I never lack the poor."

"Every seeker of knowledge is poor toward what is sought from him. The truly poor one is the ignorant one who is in need of knowledge." The King said:

"You have related from him that he said: If you are called to curse us, then curse us; but if you are called to disassociate from us, then do not disassociate from us."

My master said to him: "I seek refuge in Allah from that! This report is not what the narrations transmit. It is only:

He said: If you are called to curse us, then do not curse us; but if you are called to disassociate, then stretch forth your necks. This is supported by what is related:

from Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Ansari that he said: I was sitting in the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah while he was sitting with us—in a discourse more beautiful than pearls—when I saw his color change and anger appeared on his face. He rose at that moment and hour. When I saw this from him, I did not doubt that a calamity had descended or a sign had appeared. He walked and I followed him to his mosque. He began to step over people until he sat in his prayer niche and summoned two men who were debating regarding Amir Al-muminin and Abu Bakr. One of the men had insulted Abu Bakr, so ignorance drove the second to insult Amir Al-muminin.

The Messenger of Allah said to them: 'Which of you is the one who insulted Allah?' They said: 'There is no one among us who insulted Allah.' He said: 'Which of you insulted me?' They said: 'There is no one among us who insulted you.' He said: 'Which of you insulted Ali?' The second said: 'As for this, it was from me, O Messenger of Allah.'

The Messenger of Allah said: 'Do you not know that whoever insults Ali has insulted me, and whoever insults me has insulted Allah?
