While we were thus, a white ship appeared to us from the middle of the sea; it appeared to us like a white bird. It was but a short moment before the ship approached the land. Suddenly the winds carried it and made it flow upon the land just as it used to flow upon the sea. When it drew near the mountain, it landed upon the earth and spread out like the spreading of a garment upon the face of the earth. Then men among them leapt from it; they marched and ascended to us, and we only realized they were with us [suddenly]. Behold, they were a people whose faces, appearance, and scents we had never seen better. They drew near to us and greeted us, and we returned the greeting. A man among them stepped forward; we had never seen a more beautiful face nor a more radiant sight. He was crowned with light; the light in his face nearly snatched the sight. The people were surrounding him just as the stars surround the full moon. He greeted us and we fell prostrate on our faces. He stepped toward us and ordered us to rise, so we rose. He consoled us regarding the youth, congratulated us, and gave us tidings of what we shall become when we are transferred.

He said to us: "Recognize your stations from Allah. Let your deeds be sincere for Allah's sake, and let your obedience to your brothers be like your obedience to Allah. Do not forbid what is lawful nor make lawful what is forbidden. Connect and do not sever ties. Cooperate upon righteousness and piety, and do not cooperate upon sin and aggression. Let not some of you backbite others." Then he stepped forward, and we were behind him, and he prayed over him. Then we were ordered to bury him, so we buried him. He turned back to us and said: "For the likes of this let the doers act." Then he supplicated for us, bid us farewell, and marched, with the people who came with him in the ship surrounding him. Then the ship spread out and rose until it became near the people; they leapt into it. When they were in it, it flowed with them between the heaven and the earth until it vanished. Then we sat around the grave, discussing what we saw of the greatness of the power.
