They say: 'Can your existence then be independent of evidence, while His existence is not?'

He says: The Masters of Perfection (Arbab al-Kamal) encompass all of that.

The Knowledge of Certainty ('Ilm al-Yaqin): This is the degree of the weak among the imitating believers (muqallidin).

The Truth of Certainty (Haqq al-Yaqin): This is the degree of the insightful ones who experience spiritual unveiling (mukashifin).

The Eye of Certainty ('Ayn al-Yaqin): This is the degree of the Gnostics ('Arifin), those who have reached [the goal] and are witnesses; they have beheld the Truth directly and recognized Him through vision, verifying the truth of what was transmitted to them, and thus worshipped Him in faith and reality.

The Reality of Certainty (Haqiqiyyat al-Yaqin): This is the degree of the Universal Servant (al-'Abd al-Kulli), who has achieved total annihilation (fana') from his father and his master.

He says: To this, one of the Gnostics alluded when he said to one of his disciples: 'O my son, if you travel with your thought through the World of Meanings, your love will veil you from savoring those Meanings; but if your love travels through the Essential Meaning (Al-Ma’na), your innermost secret (sirr) will be veiled from witnessing the Meaning itself.
